She should speak to the prescribing doctor to see what he/she recommends and also make sure the dentist knows that she is on an anti-coagulant. This is too serious to trust the advise of lay people.

First of all, it is unheard of in this day and age to remove someone%26#039;s tooth. A 49 year old lady should have healthy enough gums and teeth to have them worked on rather than pulling them.

The medication given to a heart patient, especially one with valve repair, is to make sure there is no infection. Any infected teeth upon removal, will release the bacteria into the blood stream and since the heart is more prone to infection, it makes it dangerous.

Follow your doctor%26#039;s instructions and talk to the dentist to make sure it is absolutely necessary to pull those teeth.

She should talk to her cardiologist ASAP. The doctor will probably want to put her on an antibiotic before she has the tooth removed and may check her clotting time.

Just curious, hamid b, why do you say that it%26#039;s %26quot;unheard of in this day and age%26quot; to remove a tooth? It happens all the time and many people, even young people, have serious gum disease.
